Fans gather for historic All-Ireland

Kilkenny's bid for five-in-a-row comes to a conclusion this afternoon at Croke Park, with Tipperary the side standing in their way once more.

Brian Cody's side have already achieved hurling immortality, but a win today would lift them on to a plain that has never been occupied before.

To add to the drama, Henry Shefflin and John Tennyson have both made seemingly miraculous recoveries from torn cruciate knee ligament injuries to take their places in the starting team.

For the second year in a row, the Tipperary hurlers find themselves charged with the responsibility of stopping Kilkenny's assault on the history books.

Cody fears that Tipp's narrow defeat in last year's final will serve as further incentive for them again this afternoon.

Throw-in for the senior final is at 3.30pm, while the minor decider between Clare and Kilkenny will get underway from 1.15pm.
