Parents urged to be more internet-vigilant 15/12/2004 - 08:16:05 Fianna Fáil TD Barry Andrews has urged parents to be more vigilant about their children's internet use. Mr Andrews was responding to EU research which found that 14% of children who use internet chat-rooms meet up with strangers they have encountered in these forums. "It's important that parents are vigilant. It's important that they're aware of what exactly children are doing," he said. "They can't police this at all times, so we have to do our part in Government, parents have to do their part and together we can minimise the obvious threat that is out there." |
